Description

Features:

Indoor Catch Basin used to collect water and urine AND Outdoor Drain Hose
Indoor Catch Basin
Outdoor Drain Hose

Give your dog the perfect patch of grass with the Porch Potty Standard. The unique design allows instant drainage to either the container stored under the Porch Potty OR the 14 foot drain hose to be directed to any nearby rain gutter or floor drain. The Porch Potty Standard comes with BOTH drainage options.

The Porch Potty Standard is different from the Porch Potty Premium because it does not have a hose connection or sprinkler system. To rinse the synthetic grass or training sod, pick up any solids first, then use a watering can to sprinkle a few gallons of fresh water over the top and let the Porch Potty drain itself. No soap or harsh chemicals are needed, just clean water a few times per week. With a full 8 square feet of grass area (2’x4’), the Porch Potty can accommodate all dogs from 5 to 120 lbs. Plenty of space to circle and find the perfect spot.

What is Training Sod? Do I need it?

All Porch Potties can use either synthetic grass or Training Sod. Which is better? It turns out to be a personal preference. Most dogs learn to use the Porch Potty best when using the Training Sod because of the natural grass scent that instinctually lets dogs know where to potty. However we find that once trained, synthetic grass works amazingly well. Every Porch Potty comes with synthetic grass, and Training Sod is only $29 when purchasing your Porch Potty. A 40% discount.

Training Sod is designed specifically for Porch Potty. Each piece is sized to fit your Porch Potty perfectly. But more importantly, it has been grown without soil, consisting of only the roots and grass blades. This allows the layer of grass to drain properly, and keep the drain hose free of soil and other debris. Simply roll it out on the Porch Potty like you would a piece of carpet. Water the sod 2-4 times per week or keep moist. You can expect the Training Sod to last 1 – 4 months depending on weather conditions and the amount of urine it is exposed to.

Awesome for a condo / appartment patio March 29, 2011
Reviewer: Andrew Shelton from Tampa, FL United States
For the last year and a half we lived in a downtown St Pete mid-story condo with a large outdoor patio area. As we moved in we knew we wouldnt want our Boston Terrier Brutus to have to wait on the elevator first thing in the morning and last thing at night for doing his #1s. Training was super easy for him as he took to it within less than a week.

A few months after having Brutus trained on the potty we added a second Boston  to our family, Olive. She grew up learning with the porch potty. So much so that she would run out the patio door on her own and use the potty all day long for both her #1s & #2s.

What a great stress relief it was having the porch potty all this time. We just had the standard one, not the premium, because with a hose nearby we could just hose it down ourselves and we had a runoff drain on our patio that overflowed into a wooded are below. Definitely made our life quite easy.

Thanks again Porch Potty!

FOR DEBBIE V'S REVIEW March 16, 2011
Reviewer: MARY L WOODWARD from CULVER CITY, CA United States
YOU HAVE TO MAKE SURE THAT THE PORCH POTTY IS PERFECTLY LEVEL FOR IT TO DRAIN PROPERLY.  MY CEMENT IS SLIGHTLY SLANTED SO I HAD TO GET 3 FLAT BRICKS TO PUT UNDER ONE SIDE TO MAKE IT LEVEL AND THEN IT DRAINED PERFECTLY.  ALSO TO SUPPORT THE CENTER OF IT, I DRILLED A HOLE IN THE  LOWER PART OF THE DRAINAGE BASIN AND FED THE HOSE THROUGH IT TO KEEP IT LOW AND STRAIGHT.

Good and bad... January 14, 2011
Reviewer: Debi V. from Seattle, WA United States
This is a great concept, but we've got a few issues.

1. It doesn't drain worth a darn.  Any time we clean it, we have to lift up both sides to get it to drain. Basically, the turf seals to the plastic, and keeps all the water right under where it was placed.
2. Even when we pour a few gallons of water on it, we have to lift up the turf to pour some underneath to rinse it off. We have it indoors, so the sprinkler system wouldn't work.
3. At least once a week, we have to pull up the turf and wash it in the bath tub. This is after watering it daily.

I don't know if others have this issue, or if folks mostly don't use it indoors. It would be great if the company could address some of these issues.

Amazing Training Tool December 31, 2010
Reviewer: KT from Marlborough, MA United States
I purchased this product for my two small maltese/yorkies for our porch. At the time of purchasing the porch potty the dogs were trained to use puppy pads inside the house and we could not get them to let us know they needed to go outside! So we purchased the porch potty and they loved it my male dog took to it right away and within the first week he was sitting by the door which my husband and I were amazed and ecstatic about that they were finally getting the idea to always go outside. I would highly recommend this product to anyone. The cleanup is simple the sprinkler heads with the automatic timer is amazing all you have to do is pick up the solid waste which you are doing anyways when taking the dogs out for walks! So once again love the product.

Wonderful Product September 12, 2009
Reviewer: Phyllis Levin
This is just a note to tell you how pleased we are with Porch Potty.  We live in a high rise, and before we got our new puppy, we thought that it would be a good idea to have your product for emergencies, bad weather, and so  we received it a few days before we got our puppy.
I really had no intention of introducing him to it until he had settled in for a few days, and did his business outside on the grass.  But I thought that I would take him out on the balcony to become familiar with it, and so Bentley looked at it, walked the length of our balcony, came back, got onto the Porch Potty with no coaxing or my lifting him onto it, and did his business as if he had used it a thousand times....I was astounded at how easily he understood what it was for..

For people who live in a high rise building, this is a godsend for those times when your pet needs to relieve himself immediately, and you can't wait for an elevator, or when it is raining, or freezing cold.

Thank you for a wonderful product.

Yours truly,
Phyllis Levin
